Sheahan takes over as Vascular Surgery Board chair

Malachi Sheahan III, MD, chair of the Department of Surgery and chief of vascular surgery at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, is the new chair of the Vascular Surgery Board (VSB) of the American Board of Surgery (ABS).

Sheahan took over from Kellie Brown, MD, a professor of surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Rabih A. Chaer, MD, chief of vascular surgery at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, is now vice chair.

Sheahan also serves secretary of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) and is medical editor of Vascular Specialist.

The rest of the board is made up of Christopher J. Abularrage, MD; Kwame Sarpong Amankwah, MD; Bernadette Aulivola, MD; Yana Etkin, MD; Jeffrey Jim, MD; Raghu L. Motaganahalli, MD; Ravi R. Rajani, MD; David A. Rigberg, MD; Elsie Ross, MD; Murray L. Shames, MD; and Brigitte K. Smith, MD.
